A relatively rocky beach at the ironically named Paradise Bay is one of the few tourist attractions in this area. Until recently, Fjellstrand had no sanitary sewer, which meant that all the sewage went straight out in the Oslofjord. Paradise Bay thus could claim one of the highest water temperatures in the country, which helps explain why the beach at Fjellstrand was so crowded in the Summer time. Paradise Bay can be found near the end of the main street, Fjellstrandveien. Fjellstrandveien is also where the most famous and wealthy inhabitans of this village lives, with a splendid view over the Fjord. The childhood-home of the notorious former pornographic actor Sonny Big, is also to be found in this particular street. Sonny Big is currently studying political science at The University of Oslo, but he visits his parents on a regular basis. Fjellstrandveien is therefore known for its high density of paparazies. Fjellstrand reached its peak in the 1920s, when it was the biggest village on the Nesodden peninsula, and beloved as a cabin area for the wealthy white collar workers of Oslo West.
