The Flag of the Dominican Republic features a centered white cross that extends to the edges and divides the flag into four rectangles —the top ones are blue (hoist side) and red, and the bottom ones are red (hoist side) and blue. In the state and war flag and ensign, a small coat of arms featuring a shield supported by an olive branch (left) and a palm branch (right) is at the center of the cross; above the shield a blue ribbon displays the national motto, Dios, Patria, Libertad (God, Fatherland, Liberty), and below the shield, Republica Dominicana appears on a red ribbon.
The National Flag consists of the colours ultramarine blue and vermilion red in alternate quarters, placed in such a way that the blue is towards the upper part of the staff, separated by wide white cross half as wide as the height of one quarter, and bearing in the centre the arms of the Republic.
War ensign and jack (as of 1939): This is one of the five dominican naval flags in Flaggenbuch (1939-1941) [neu39].
The flag of the DominicanRepublic is detailed in the Constitution, and whilst this lays down a width for the cross it does not give a ratio.
