Flambeau is a town located in Rusk County, Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,067.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 90.3 km² (34.9 mi²). 89.5 km² (34.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.86% water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 1,067 people, 398 households, and 308 families residing in the town. The population density is 11.9/km² (30.9/mi²). There are 438 housing units at an average density of 4.9/km² (12.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.13% White, 0.28% African American, 0.19% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.47% Pacific Islander, 0.09% from other races, and 0.75% from two or more races. 0.47% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 398 households out of which 35.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.6% are married couples living together, 8.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 22.4% are non-families. 16.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.68 and the average family size is 3.03.
