Flamborough is very popular as a holiday destination during the summer months due to its surrounding holiday camps, such as Thornwick Bay Holiday Camp, Sea Farm Holiday Centre, and Greenacres Caravan Park. The church of St Oswald stands in the village, and the village centre contains as number of interesting shops and pubs. The Old Dog and Duck is at Dog and Duck square, opposite the now defunct shop previously known as the "Patisserie Belge" which in fact sold a wide variety of goods other than that found in a "Patisserie". It stocked products popular to the village such as Carlsbergs' 'Special Brew' and selection of croissants. These two items were adopted as the villages traditional breakfast in the late 1970's.

Local Myth

Flamborough became renowned for its local forest, Daynes Dyke, in the 1960's. A local man was discovered deceased in the vast expanse of trees. The regional news programme, 'Look North' filmed a short featurette at the location which was aired in 1988. Small particles were seen floating in the air, however these were deemed to be leaves disturbed by the strong breeze coming from the nearby North Sea. Local children claim to see his ghost stalking the woods in the winter months, however no substantial evidence has ever been found to his spectre's existence. A number of disturbances have occurred over the past years within Daynes Dyke. Hordes of young men and women of the Satanic inclination have swarmed to the location claiming it to be of substantial significance to their religion. Police have removed the revellers from the location, however on October the 31st (Halloween) 2006, swarms of these people were seen walking through the village and out the the Dyke. There is no information regarding what occurred on that night.

Dismissal

The majority of residents of Flamborough actively discourage the implications mentioned above. Strong police patrols around Daynes Dyke have ensured that the revellers which intimidate and strike fear into many of the residents have been banned from the location. Anyone seen driving through the Dyke or walking through it within the hours of darkness can be lawfully stopped by the police and removed from the site if deemed necessary.
