It has a forum, with a large number of members, where everyone is allowed freedom of speech, therefore, the forum has been checked by the Swedish police on numerous occasions and is under constant surveillance by the Swedish Security Service, due to its members' abundant discussions about drug use, child pornography, race science, bestiality and other controversial subjects. The first magazine with the name Flashback was published in February of 1993, but the roots can be traced back to 1983 with a fanzine under the name of "Dead or Alive".[2]

The goal is to keep hold of freedom of speech and be a speaker for most alternative opinions. The magazine and website is opinion neutral and has no religious or political interests. The website has on multiple occasions been shut down by authorities and fined ten thousands of dollars. The website has been moved to British hosts due to less restrictive laws.


Flashback Underground Forum

The most popular parts of Flashback are its Swedish and English forums. The Swedish forum houses over 118 000 members and 6 200 000 posts[3] in over 70 forum categories ranging from travel, politics, religion, weapons, sex and pets to philosophy and science, making it the largest and most active Swedish language forum in the world. The English forum is smaller with slightly over 3 200 members and 74 000 posts, as per the forum's own statistics.
