History

Flemingdon Park was originally owned by Robert John Fleming, the mayor of Toronto from 1896 to 1897. It was later sold to become public land, and was a suburb until 1958. In 1958, following with the trends of many other post-World War II cities, Toronto began to consider a large planned apartment community for the influx of immigrants. Although there was immediate skepticism based on the density of the development, the community was nevertheless built. The community was finished in the early 1970s.
