Fletch Won is the eighth book in the Fletch series of mystery/comedy novels written by Gregory Mcdonald, and was published in 1985. The story predates the first seven books in the series, and follows the early days of the title character's journalism career. Fletch scores his first big interview, only to have the subject turn up dead in the newspaper's parking lot. He investigates, beginning his dual profession of journalist and investigator. Director Kevin Smith is a fan of the 1985 novel, and convinced Miramax head Harvey Weinstein to pick up the rights to the novel when they became available. He intended to write and direct an adaptation of Fletch Won, following the original novel much more closely than either of the popular Chevy Chase films. Fletch - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (351 words)
Fletch is the nickname of the main character, "Irwin Maurice Fletcher", in a series of mystery/comedy novels written by Gregory Mcdonald.
Fletch begins the series working as a lowly reporter; soon, however, he acquires a moderate fortune and becomes a globetrotter perpetually working on a biography of Edgar Arthur Tharp, a fictional artist.
He appears to be serious, and Fletch begins investigating the man's story in between investigating the drug story on the beach and avoiding the two attorneys after him for alimony for each of his ex-wives.
