Flight West operated the most extensive network of routes throughout regional Queensland, serving a number of Queensland Government contracts to provide subsidised services to remote areas, as well as a number of profitable routes. The airline operated bases in Brisbane, Townsville and Carins and served major cities and small regional communities throughout the state including communities on Cape York Peninsula and the Torres Strait, major coastal cities and islands, and cities and towns in western Queensland. Flight West operated 34 routes at the time its services were suspended. These included routes in New South Wales, the Northern Territory and Norfolk Island. At the suspension of services flight west operated 16 jet and turboprop aircraft. In the mid 1990’s the fleet comprised of DHC-6 Twin Otters and Dash8s and Embraer EMB 110 and EMB 120s. The airline disposed of the Twin Otters and EMB 110s by the late 1990’s and acquired jet aircraft. Some of the EMB 110s were sold to Transtate airlines operating a regional network in North Queensland. Two Fokker F28s were acquired followed by newer Fokker F100s.
