Corresponding Chinese constellation in Andromeda are Flying serpent (螣蛇), Celestial stable (天廄), Wall (壁), Legs (奎), Southern military gate (军南门) and Great general of the heaven (天大将军).
The brightest star in Andromeda, α Andromedae, called Alpheratz or Sirrah, makes up with α, β, and λ Pegasi an asterism called the Great Square of Pegasus.
This star was once considered part of Pegasus, as confirmed by its name, "navel of the horse", and was also designated δ Pegasi.
