Folklore - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (882 words)
Folklore is the body of expressive culture, including tales, music, dance, legends, oral history, proverbs, jokes, popular beliefs, customs, material culture, and so forth, common to a particular population, comprising the traditions (including oral traditions) of that culture, subculture, or group.
The concept of folklore developed as part of the 19th century ideology of romantic nationalism, leading to the reshaping of oral traditions to serve modern ideological goals; only in the 20th century did ethnographers begin to attempt to record folklore without overt political goals.
In this case, the term "folklore" is being used in a pejorative sense.
Nelly Furtado - Promiscuous (1416 words)
Before the release of her sophomore album, Furtado gave birth to her first child, daughter Nevis (named for the Caribbean island, Nevis, on which she was conceived), on September 20, 2003 in Toronto.
The album includes the single " Força " (means "strength" or "carry on" in Portuguese), which was written as the official anthem of the 2004 European Football Championship.
The album was not as successful as her debut, partly due to troubles at DreamWorks Records and the less poppy sound.
