Fonthill is a community in the town of Pelham, Ontario, Canada. It has a few small industries, most notably Fonthill Lumber, but is primarily a residential suburb known for its upscale homes and community spirit. Within the Town of Pelham, Fonthill is the commercial centre where residents have access to the basic shopping neccessities. It also is home to the Town of Pelham Municipal building at the heart of the town. As a bedroom community, most residents commute to Welland, St. Catharines and some as far as Hamilton and Toronto daily for work. Fonthill has the second highest household income in Ontario. The first Post Office was established in 1856, so "Fonthill" became official. This year the "Village of Fonthill" is celebrating it's 150th Birthday. A group of Volunteers,with the help of the Town of Pelham,is organizing a celebration on Saturday June 10th from 11a.m. to 11p.m. There will be walking tours of the Village,tea at the Churches, demonstrations, music in the new Band Shell, that is being built for the occasion, a street dance and lots of history on display.
