For reasons beyond the associations control, it proved impossible to implement the project to build a national training centre approved by the Goal Bureau on 1 May 2003, as a result of which the project was re-submitted to the Bureau on 21 March 2007 in a revised form.
The centre will bring the associations administrative and technical facilities together under one roof and is expected to produce good results across the board.
The area used by the association occupies slightly more than a third of the entire complex, whose owner has signed a lease for more than 30 years with the FootballAssociation of Indonesia (PSSI).
Indonesia, under the name Dutch East Indies, was the first Asian team to participate in the FIFA World Cup when they qualified in 1938.
Indonesia's first appearance in the AFCAsian Cup was in the United Arab Emirates in 1996, Indonesia only gained one point from a draw against Kuwait in the first round.
Indonesia performed better in the 2004Asian Cup, beating Qatar 2-1, their first ever victory in the Asian Cup; unfortunately this was not enough to qualify for the second round.
