The Ford World Curling Championships is an annual curling event which showcases the world's best curlers. Starting in 2005, the men's and women's championships will be held in different venues.

Ford, a South End resident, finished third overall in both the sprint and the main race behind competitors from Switzerland and Denmark, in the 2004 Messenger World Championship held July 1-5 in Edmonton, Alberta.
Ford was looking to defend his first-place finishes in last year's sprint, a 250-meter test of raw speed, and the main race, a longer event held on open roads.
To train for the Worlds, Ford rode his bicycle every day, first on long training rides in the morning, and again in the afternoon as a courier for RS Express in Boston.

The 2003 Ford Worlds will likely be the last major sporting event held in the Winnipeg Arena before the city's new arena complex is constructed.
"Ford is pleased and proud to be title sponsor of the Ford World Curling Championships for the ninth consecutive year," said Kevin Zimic, Manager of Sponsorships and Marketing for Ford of Canada.
Tickets for the 2003 Ford Worlds are expected to go on sale by the end of this year or in early January of 2002.
