History

Forest Lodge was named after a house built in the area in 1836 by Ambrose Foss, a chemist and druggist in Sydney. He also became an alderman and church deacon. Ambrose Foss and his colleague Edward Hunt founded the Congregational Church in New South Wales. The house stood on the present site of 208-210 Bridge Road until it was demolished in 1912.
