SheffieldForgemasters believes the severe flash flooding in the city’s east end has caused damage estimated at tens of millions of pounds to its Brightside Lane base.
Forgemasters' director Peter Birtles said the health and safety of employees had been and still was paramount as a massive clean up operation now begins as the waters subside.
Peter, who stayed overnight at Forgemasters during the crisis, said: "There are lots of areas on site that are still underwater including cellars and pits containing underground machinery.
