Fort Benning is a base facility of the United States military outside Columbus, Georgia. The base has a large basic training facility for infantry, and is home to the Infantry Training Brigade of the United States Army as well being the Army's foremost airborne (parachuting) training center. Fort Benning is also home to the United States Army Ranger School, one of the army's elite forces. The base is also the location of the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHISC), formerly known as School of the Americas. Fort Benning is also home to the US Army's Ranger, Pathfinder, and sniper training schools.
