The Fort Wayne Fury was team in the Continental Basketball Association. They played at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Fury finished as the league's runner-up in the 1996 season. Former members of the team include former Indiana University standout, Damon Bailey, and Percy Miller, better known as the rapper, "Master P". The original Fury coach was NBA Hall of Famer Rick Barry. When the team folded, the coach was Keith Smart, who is famous for his shot that won the 1987 NCAA National Championship for the Indiana Hoosiers basketball team. Six months later, the name "Fury" was selected from a "Name the Team" contest, and the franchise made preparations to enter the CBA for the 1991-92 season.
Fort Wayne knocked off the top-seeded Rockford Lightning in the playoffs, then upended the Quad City Thunder to reach the CBA championship.
Although the Fury struggled in the 1996-97 season, going 20-36, Myron Brown earned his first CBA All-Star Classic appearance, where he scored 10 points (although Brown previously participated in the dunk competitions, this was the first time he actually played in the All-Star Classic).

Fort Wayne is a city and the county seat of Allen County in northeastern Indiana.
Current Fort Wayne straddles Interstate 69, and is served by Norfolk Southern, Conrail and CSX rail lines as well as Fort Wayne International Airport and Smith Field regional airport.
In the latter half of the 20th century, shifts in manufacturing patterns led to the reduction of the number of manufacturing plants and jobs, and Fort Wayne could be counted among the relatively stagnant "rust belt" cities of the northeast.
