Strikers, also known as centre forwards, forwards, and attackers, are the players on a team in football (soccer) in the row nearest to the opposing team's goal, who are therefore principally responsible for scoring goals. Soccer became one of the first team sports included in the Olympic Games in 1900 as a demonstration sport and became an official Olympic event in 1908.
The soccer field is 45-90 meters by 90-120 meters (50-100 yards by 100-130 yards) with a half-way line, center circle, two goal areas at either end, penalty areas, and two penalty spots located 11m from the goal line.

There are four different positions in soccer, and depending on your location in the world, they may be named slightly differently.
Forwards playing near the touchlines are called ‘wings’ while those in the midst of the field are called ‘strikers’.
Their primary task is to steal the ball and redirect it to the forwards, and to take shots at the goal.
