The Fox Theatre in downtown Detroit, Michigan is a historic Roaring Twenties theater. Built in 1928 as a movie palace, it was designed by C. Howard Crane, who created in its interior a lavish blend of Burmese, Chinese, Hindu, Indian and Persian motifs. The exterior of the 10-story building features an Art Deco facade. In 1988 the theatre was cleaned and fully restored to its previous state. It is currently owned by Mike Ilitch, and now is the city's top venue for Broadway shows. It currently seats 5,000 for concerts and stage shows.
