Framboise is usually served in a small glass that resembles a champagne glass, only shorter. Most framboise beers are quite sweet, though the Cantillon brewery produces a tart version called Rosé de Gambrinus that is based on the traditional kriek style. The Liefmans brewery uses Oud bruin beer instead of lambic to make its high quality framboise beer, resulting in a very different taste. Recently, Framboise has become popular outside of Belgium, and can now be found in pubs and supermarkets all over the world. Now, however early the strawberries may be this year, raspberries are not yet in season, and I realize just now that I seem to go by a different rule for the fruit I use in baking.
Framboises brisées, as you may have guessed, are raspberries that were smushed at some point in their lives, so they can't be labelled as whole raspberries and can hence be bought for a little less.
Note that the basic recipe (minus the raspberries and cacao nib topping) is easy-breezy and can be adapted to welcome any other ingredient/topping that you would like in/on your muffs.
