BOP, Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac Assembly Divition was the designation at that time. Costing $12,000,000 at the time it was one of three new plants for General Motors that year. In August 1959 it became part of Fisher Body-Chevrolet Operations threw May 1968. Produceing Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile Automobiles at a line speed up to 40 Jobs per hour. In May of 1968 the plant became GMAD, General Motors Automotive division. Produceing up to 45 JPH. Makeing the Chevy Chevelle, Pontiac Lemans, and in 1970 the Buick Century, and Oldsmobile Cutlass lines were added. In 1971 production of the Pontiac GTO started at the plant. In 1981 the front wheel drive Chevy Celebrity and Pontiac 6000 were being produced for the 1982 models and the Cutlass Ciera was added for the 1983 model production. On 10/4/82 the Plant was indefinately Idled until 3/14/83 with only the first shift being recalled. The 2nd shift was recalled 12/12/83. In May of 1984 CPC Operations began at the plant and was the designation of the plant until 8/1/89 when the plant was closed permanatly. At the plants peek in 1985 a new paint shop was added giving a total of over 3,000,000 square ft of building under 54 acres of roof. With about 2,000 men and women working per shift. This info is correct to the best of my recolection with the help of my issue of Reflections the book given to me by General Motors at the end of my employment at the Framingham Plant in 1989.
