Fran Levstik, Slovenian poet, playwright, critic and linguist. He was born in Spodnje Retje near Velike Lašče on September 28, 1831, Slovenia and died in Ljubljana on November 16, 1887. Fran Levstik's most recognized works are the narrative Martin Krpan and the itinerary Popotovanje iz Litije do Čateža that also includes a literary programme. As a linguist, he has proved his expertise in the work Napake slovenskega pisanja.
