Francisco Gabilondo Soler (1907, Orizaba - 1990, Texcoco) was a composer of children's songs, who became very famous by broadcasting a radio show for many years aimed at kids for which he created a character named Cri-Cri El Grillito Cantor (Cri Cri The Singing Cricket). His songs are very famous throughout Latin America. Before his death, he participated in a memorial concert with Eugenia León, and he sang Bombón 1º, El ropero and La merienda. Gabilondo's songs were also recorded by the opera singer Plácido Domingo and the French singer Mireille Mathieu among other world-famous performers. He recorded Cri-Cri por el mundo (Cri-Cri for the world), and Serie Platino. 1907 was a common year starting on Tuesday (see link for calendar). ... Some of his songs are now under attack by being considered racists: A few examples would be "Negrito Sandia" (Watermelon little Negro), "Negrita Cucurumbe" and "Negrito Bailarin" (little dancing Negro).

Francisco Gabilondo Soler (6 October 1907, Orizaba, Veracruz - 14 December 1990, Texcoco) was a Mexican composer of children's songs.
As a child, he delighted in stories by the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen and taught himself to play piano.
Gabilondo's songs were also recorded by the opera singer Plácido Domingo and the French singer Mireille Mathieu amongst other world-famous performers.
