Franciszek Piper is a Polish scholar, historian, and author. Most of his work concerns the Jewish Holocaust, especially the history of the concentration camps at Auschwitz. He has written several books and was chair of the Historical Department at the Auschwitz State Museum. He currently is associated with the PaƄstwowe Muzeum, Auschwitz-Birkenau ... A concentration camp is a large detention centre created for political opponents, aliens, specific ethnic or religious groups, civilians of a critical war-zone, or other groups of people, often during a war. ... Auschwitz, in English, commonly refers to the Auschwitz concentration camp complex built near the town of Oświęcim, by Nazi Germany during World War II.
