Overview

Frank visits Donnie for the first time during the night, and makes him leave the house. He tells Donnie that the world will end in twenty-eight days, six hours, forty-two minutes and twelve seconds. In the morning, Donnie wakes up on a golfing course, unaware of how he got there, and has "28:06:42:12" written on his arm. When he returns to his house he finds the fire brigade, police and ambulance there, as an aeroplane jet engine has fallen from the sky and crashed into Donnie's bedroom. Frank reappears several more times in the film, often giving him tasks to do in the night (e.g. flood the school). Interestingly, Frank is Donnie's sister's boyfriend, and kills Gretchen Ross, Donnie's love intrest in the film.
