Encyclopedia > Frank Bello

Frank Bello replaced Dan Lilker on bass guitar in Anthrax, a thrash metal band, on the Spreading the Disease album. He was warmly received by the band's fans, who enjoyed his energetic stage presence and inventive bass style. He played fast, but with feeling that is generally lacking in heavy metal music. Bello played using a pick, hitting double and triple-picked lines with ease. He held the bottom up for the band, which used high-pitched guitar squeals and a high-pitched singing style from vocalist Joey Belladonna. After leaving Anthrax in early 2004 Frank joined forces with Helmet - another NYC-based band. Frank has since reunited with the "classic" Anthrax line-up, consisting of himself, Scott Ian, Joey Belladonna, Charlie Benante, and Dan Spitz. Dan Lilker is a bass player from the USA. He played in thrash metal bands Nuclear Assault, Brutal Truth, Anthrax, as well as the crossover band Stormtroopers of Death. ...
