Operational usage

As a special courtesy, Lufthansa allows its passengers to check in at Köln Hauptbahnhof and Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof. The passengers' luggage will then be transported on board the ICE trains and forwarded to the respective flight. This scheme is known as AiRail Service. Trains operating under that scheme have a separate LH number associated with them.
