After leaving school, Boyle attended Aston University for a year before leaving and starting a BA (Honours) in English at the University of Sussex.


He first came to fame in 1996 when he won the Daily Telegraph Open Mic award. In 2003 and 2004 he made several radio pilots for BBC Radio Scotland. BBC Radio Scotland is BBC Scotlands national radio network, broadcasting since 1976 on 92-95 FM and 810 medium wave. ...


Boyle started out on The Stand Up Show in 1995, and spent most of the time between this and 2002 performing at various festivals around the country.

Frankie is a proverbial enigma, widely regarded as one of the finest blues singers that ever lived and as a songwriter he has been covered by an impressive array of artists including, Ray Charles, Roy Orbison, Rod Stewart, Don Williams, Rush and the Everly Brothers.

Frankie Boyle said six cars were used to carry the weapons, wrapped in plastic bags, from the district to the neighbouring Creggan estate in the early hours of Sunday 30 January 30 1972.
Mr Boyle said he saw the people who had removed the weapons "snoozing" in the same cars in the Creggan estate as the march set off from there later that day.
Mr Boyle also admitted spitting in a soldier's face during the march at the William Street barrier containing the march inside the Bogside and later throwing stones at troops.
