Encyclopedia > Fred Busse

Fred Busse (born: March 3, 1886; died: July 9, 1914; buried in Graceland Cemetery) served as mayor of Chicago, Illinois (1907-1911) for the Republican Party. Previously, he was the Illinois State Treasurer (1903-1905).


Busse's mayoral tenure is noted for its extensive corruption and presence of organized crime in the city.
