Freddy worked at the local power plant and used its boiler room as a lair to take his victims. A second lair was also kept in the basement of the Krueger residence. When Loretta finds this basement lair, Freddy strangles her to death in front of young Kathryn.[13]

    • Freddy is arrested for committing the murders of the neighborhood children. Kathryn Krueger is put into foster care, then later adoption.[14]

    • Freddy is released on a legal technicality. As the judge's and the investigator's pockets grew fat from the ongoing trial, it came to light that someone forgot to sign a search warrant in the right place, and all of the evidence against Fred Krueger was inadmissible as evidence. The parents of Springwood take justice into their own hands by burning Freddy alive in his boiler room with Molotov cocktails.
