Refunjol made his remarks following a meeting with the Executive Council in which he said joint issues such as constitutional developments and tourism had been discussed.
According to Refunjol, the islands of the Netherlands Antilles have now decided what they want with their constitutional future, while Aruba made that choice many years ago.
Refunjol said that if there were problems, partners in Kingdom “should be big enough to sit at the table and solve them.” He referred to the intense family ties between St. Maarten and Aruba, with many people living here having been born in Aruba.
