Freeheat was formed at the end of the 20th century, consisting of four members - Jim Reid (vocals and guitar) was a founding member of The Jesus & Mary Chain and remained in that group until their chaotic demise in 1998 after which the Mary Chain's Reid brothers went their separate ways.
Freeheat debuted on disc with 2000's Dont Worry Be Happy EP (Hall Of Records, USA), followed in 2002 with the The Retox EP (Outafocus Recordings, UK).
Freeheat's long awaited LP "Back On The Water" was officially released in North America on June 13, 2006 via US indie label Planting Seeds Records.
Freeheat haven't played in the UK for about a year, and there's a lot of interest and expectation surrounding tonight's gig at The Water Rats.
Freeheat, it would seem, is a chance for Ben, Jim et al to return to their first love, making guitar pop songs, without the music industry machine's hyperbole.
But for Freeheat their primary concern is the music, the gig, the songs, the bringing of these elements together in one place and at one time.
