Wandering the streets of second southtown, Freeman is a serial killer, who has become famous for his ferocity and apparent lack of motivation. He is responsible for the death of Kevin Rian's unnamed partner, earning him the animosity of Ryan. After entering the King of Fighters: Maximum Mayhem tournament arranged by Kain R. Heinlein, he was spotted on top of a cathedral by a the police, and shot by a sniper, apparently for his numerous murders of police officers. Gameplay

Freeman is a quick character, using numerous feints and specified attacks to rush down the opponent. One of his most used moves is his rekka-style attack V.O.D., the light version of which contains a low hit, making it more difficult to block. Like most characters in Mark of the Wolves, his feint attacks can be used to make large, damaging combos. Freeman is difficult to play as, however, as he has no significantly effective anti-air attacks. Overkill is his only move that can be used as an anti-air, but a jump would have to be antipated due to the large slash mark occuring after Freeman already executes the move. Despite the visible power behind his moves, Freeman is primarilly described as a "speed" character among players.

Trivia

  • Freeman's name may or may not be borrowed from the manga/anime character Crying Freeman. [citation needed]
  • Freeman's fighting style, "Violence", is very reminiscent of the character Mature... in fact, many moves, including his basic throw, are directly borrowed. [citation needed]
  • Similar to Vice, many of Freeman's moves are names of heavy metal bands. These include: Nightmare, Phobia, V.O.D. (Vision of Disorder),Overkill, Gorefest and Morbid Angel. In addition, Creeping Death is a song by Metallica, and Crow is either a nod towards Crow (band) or The Crow, or both.
  • For Freeman's pre-fight intro, he appears wearing an outfit similar to that of Halloween antagonist Michael Myers, complete with a spooky white mask. He will do a formal bow, the outfit and mask will come off, sliced to ribbons, and fall to the ground.
