Freman Hendrix was a 2005 mayoral candidate in Detroit. The son of a Black American soldier and an Austrian woman, he was Deputy Mayor for former Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer. He lost to incumbent Kwame Kilpatrick in the November 8, 2005 election. In the August 2 primary election Hendrix outpolled Kilpatrick by a comfortable margin, with Kilpatrick coming in a solid second.
