French America (in French Amérique française) is the French speaking community of peoples and diasporas tracing back origins to New France, the early French colonization of the Americas. As such, Haitians or immigrants from France in the United States, for example, are not considered part of French America. Quebec is the center of the community and the Ordre des francophones d'Amériques is a decoration given in the name of the community to its members. It can also be referred to as the Francophonie of America (the continent).
