Friends of Canadian Broadcasting is a Canadian public interest group.
The group monitors developments in the Canadian television and radio broadcasting industries, and organizes campaigns when broadcasters take actions which are deemed contrary to the public interest (such as concentration of media ownership, investment in Canadian production, quality of local news coverage, etc.)
FRIENDS of CanadianBroadcasting is an independent, Canada-wide, non-partisan voluntary organization whose mission is to defend and enhance the quality and quantity of Canadian programming in the Canadian audio-visual system.
The Award was established by FRIENDS in 2002 to encourage and recognize excellence in essay-writing on the link between democratic values and the quality of the media in Canada.
