Membership is open to all persons. It additionally sponsors the Lulu Awards, administers the Women Cartoonists Hall of Fame, and the Friends of Lulu Empowerment Fund. Friends of Lulu Empowerment Fund

The Friends of Lulu announced on April 7, 2006 the creation of a new women's "empowerment fund" to help victims of sexual harassment or sexual assault in the comics industry. The fund was created in response to allegations that Comic Book Legal Defense Fund executive director Charles Brownstein had groped artist Taki Soma at the November 2005 Mid-Ohio Con.
