Friendship Heights is a Washington Metro station on the western half of the Red Line. It straddles the border of Washington, D.C. and Montgomery County, Maryland at the 5400 block of Wisconsin Avenue, NW; two of the five exits sit on the Maryland side of Western Avenue whereas the other three exit into the District.
The station serves the upscale neighborhoods of Chevy Chase and Friendship Heights. The area is a major retail shopping and broadcast media district.
The station also serves as a bus depot linking Montgomery County Transit's Ride-On bus system with the Washington Metro. It is directly adjacent to the Western Division Metrobus garage on 44th Street and Harrison Street, NW.
Service to Friendship Heights began on August 25, 1984 when the Red Line inaugurated service to Grosvenor.

FriendshipHeights is a wealthy residential neighborhood in northwest Washington, DC and southern Montgomery County, Maryland.
Though its borders are not clearly defined, FriendshipHeights consists roughly of the neighborhoods and commercial areas around Wisconsin Avenue north of Tenleytown to Somerset Terrace in Maryland, and from River Road in the west to Reno Road in the east.
The FriendshipHeights Station on the Red Line of the WashingtonMetro system serves the area, and the station is also a major connecting depot for area bus services.
