Synopsis

The USS Voyager is assigned its first mission by Starfleet since becoming stranded in the Delta quadrant in the year 2371, Janeway informs her crew that they have been assigned to find an ancient Earth probe launched several years after Earths first warp flight, the probe named "Friendship 1" carried information on technology such as antimatter reactors and communication transceivers. Back on Voyager Janeway and Chakotay talk and enter the sickbay where the Doctor awakens the humanoid they stunned on the planet, Janeway and the humanoid talk and exchange history.


The planet hails the starship Voyager where Janeway and a male, Verin, communicate, the man states his "demands" that he wants the Voyager to take his people from the planet; the man prepares to send a hostage through in return for food and supplies, however moments before he is beamed away the man apologises and kills Carrey.


Seven reveals to the male that they captured, Otrin, from the planet that the first phase of his treatment is complete using her nano-probes.


The Voyager sends down the Delta Flyer with several officers, Tuvok is captured by the planets natives and is brought to the caves, on entering the caves his escort fires his weapon rendering the captors unconscious, Tuvok's escort removes his head cover revealing him self to be The Doctor; Tom Paris, Nelix, Tuvok and The Doctor prepare to beam out when Tom decides to bring along the child they helped saved to Voyager so that he can receive medical care from there Doctor. The Doctor is a character on the science fiction television series Star Trek: Voyager. ...


Otrin along with Seven shows there "invention" to Janeway with a solution to correcting the planets atmosphere, they ponder using photon torpedos to cause a chain reaction to apply the idea on a planet wide scale. This article or section does not cite its references or sources. ...


Voyager hails Otrin notifying him that they are ready to begin, he wishes them good luck. Voyager begins firing the modified photon torpedo’s; the shockwaves of the explosions cause Verin to become more paranoid and proceeds to activate the planets defences, however the people of the planet stop him.


A young child enters the caves telling everybody to come outside and hurry, outside the winter has disappeared and the sun has come out with he young girl explaining it’s beautiful.
