From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler is a book by E.L. Konigsburg about two children who run away from home and hide out in the Metropolitan Museum of Art museum in New York. Claudia and Jamie, both very original individuals, stay in the museum for a long time, exploring and discovering things that shock them. Claudia in particular falls in love with a certain statue of a small angel, and will not leave the museum until she finds out who made it. But, several days later, it disappears. Claudia drags an unwilling Jamie on a search for the statue, which leads them to Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler- an old woman who holds the answers to all of Claudia's questions.
