Frontier Strip refers to the American six states from North Dakota south to Texas. Geographically speaking, the states basically form a straight line from north to south. The term 'Frontier Strip' is probably an allusion to the days of the American Wild West, when the states (some of which were territories at that point) on the Strip were considered to be rugged outposts. The surface if the Frontier is reserved, not holding too many exterior references to a western theme, besides the actual script of the logo, and wood paneling of the overhangs, little else is there to support the theme.

The authorities shall then position the frontier marks under the supervision of the Mixed Commission, which shall prepare a record of the operation and submit it to the competent authorities of each of the two States so that it may be annexed to the documents referred to in Article 1 of this Protocol.
