Furnace room

A Furnace room is a room for locating the furnace and auxillary equipment. Such a room minimizes the visual impact of the furnace, pipes and other gear. A modern compact furnace can readily fit into a small closet. However care must be exercised to provide adequate ventilation as the exterior of the furnace unit puts out a significant amount of heat. An unheated attached garage makes for an ideal furnace room as the exterior heat from the furnace will warm and dry the garage. In the picture the airflow is from bottom to top with an electronic air filter on the bottom, followed by a natural gas high efficiency or condensing furnace (98% efficient) in the middle and the air conditioning coils on top. Wall furnace - Patent 4784110 (3260 words)
The furnace of claim 1, wherein said radiators diverge at their lower ends so as to be spaced further from the lower end of said chamber than they are from the upper end of said chamber.
Cool room air enters the furnace near the lower end of the heat exchanger, is heated from the exterior of the heat exchanger, and flows upwardly due to a decrease in density caused by heating, and exits back into the room at the upper end of the heat exchanger.
Room air is drawn in through the lower end of the front panel 16 of the furnace into the burner itself for premixing of air and gas.
furnace: Definition and Much More from Answers.com (3694 words)
In the hot-air furnace, fuel is burned within an inner wall and air, led into a space between the inner and the outer wall, is heated and is led away to the various rooms of the building.
In American English, the term furnace on its own is generally used to describe household heating systems based on a central furnace (known either as a boiler or a heater in British English), and sometimes as a synonym for kiln, a device used to fire clay to produce ceramics.
At the furnace, cool air passes into the furnace, usually through an air filter, through the blower, then through the heat exchanger of the furnace, whence it is blown throughout the building.
