Encyclopedia > Fusion reactor

Also try: fusion power The Sun is a natural fusion reactor. ...

This article is about a fictional warship in the game Halo. WARNING: Plot spoiler in this aticle! Read at own risk.

The fusion reactor is the main source of power for many of the ships for the UNSC. One of the ships that has a Fusion Reactor is the Pillar of Autunm. As seen in the last level of halo, The Maw. The main character (Master Chief) must destroy Halo by using the ships Fusion Core. The fusion Core is linked to 6 Coloumns also known as exaust cupplings. These exaust cupplings prevent the ship from overheating. The master chief opens 4 exaust cupplings which exposses the Fusion Core's vent. This vent constantly opens and shuts to air out the Fusion core of radioactive material. Placing an explosive device in the vent will cause it to distabllise and crack the Ships Engine Shield. The engines shield prevents the engine from becoming unstable. Once all 4 exaust cupplings been damaged, all exaust cupplings open up to attempt to cool the Fusion Core until crew members can repair it. In the event that the Engines shield cracks, the crew will have 5-7 minutes to evacuate or repair the ship. If the ship reaches criticle point, the engines will detonate. The exploisions blast radius is extremly wide and generates a tempurature of 100,000,000 degrees.

RTFTechnologies IEC Fusion Reactor (955 words)
An IEC fusion reactor typically consists of a geodesic inner grid that is held at a negative potential surrounded by a grounded spherical vacuum envelope (outer “grid”).
This is a cad of the fusion reactor core.
The reactor must be operated under high vacuum to obtain the required mean free path, or average distance between collisions, for the deuterium ions being accelerated through the central grid.
