FutureQuake is an approximately quarterly British small press comicbook founded by Arthur Wyatt, and edited from issue 5 onwards by Richmond Clements, David Evans, Mark Woodland and Edward Berridge. Issue 4 was edited by Clements, Evans and James Mackay. Dedicated to showcasing work by new writers and artists, they publish mostly self-contained comic stories, preferably of 5 pages or less and usually of a sci-fi/fantasy/horror bent. Under their FutureQuake Publishing imprint (FQP) they also publish the Japanese Manga-influenced anthology MangaQuake and the horror comic Something Wicked. Influences Though FutureQuake is ostensibly open to any form of submission from anyone who choses to do so, there are certain forms and themes to which the comic adheres. As an anthology, the stories often feature a moralistic 'twist' at the end, much in the same style as EC Comics's science fiction and horror comics like Weird Science and The Vault of Horror, as well as 2000 AD's Future Shocks. However, the stories are not neccessarily bound by this, and MangaQuake moves away from this direction, opting instead for longer stories less reliant on the narrative structure of the 'twist', clearly influenced by the Japanese comics form. On the other hand, the horror comic Something Wicked directly paralells and references the horror titles published by EC Comics. Anthology may also mean a Alien Ant Farm album ANThology, see Anthology (AAF Album) An anthology is a collection of literary works, originally of poems, but in recent years its usage has broadened to be applied to collections of short stories and comic strips. ...
