The GEICO Cavemen are popular characters in a series of television advertisements for the auto insurance company GEICO, that aired from 2004 to 2007. The campaign was co-created by Noel Ritter and writer Joe Lawson among others, of The Martin Agency. In 2004, GEICO began an advertising campaign featuring Neanderthal-like cavemen in a modern setting.[1] The premise of the commercials is that GEICO advertises that using their website is "so easy, a caveman could do it"; and that this slogan offends cavemen, who not only still exist in modern society but live as intelligent, urbane yuppies. Jeff Daniel Phillips and Ben Weber played the two earliest cavemen and continuously reprise their roles. Actor John Lehr appears most frequently as the caveman. A fourth caveman is played by Ben Wilson. Alice, a fictional character based on a real character from the work of Lewis Carroll. ...

Television ads
- In the first commercial, as the fake, caveman-insensitive commercial is being filmed, the boom operator turns out to be a Neanderthal caveman, who stops the filming and yells "not cool!".
- In the second commercial, three cavemen in their apartment are watching the ad on TV and take offense at its "condescending" tone.
- In the third, a spokesman attempts to apologize to two cavemen in a restaurant for the promotion, explaining that "we had no idea you guys were still around". Soon afterward, one of the cavemen orders "the roast duck with the mango salsa," while the other just glares at the spokesman telling him he is no longer hungry.
- In the fourth, a caveman is on a moving sidewalk at an airport (a parody of the opening credit sequence in the film The Graduate). He spots a billboard for GEICO featuring a stereotypical caveman Neanderthal along with the earlier mentioned GEICO slogan, while the Röyksopp song "Remind Me" plays in the background.
- A follow up to the fourth commercial shows the same caveman talking on his cellular phone, complaining about the billboard.
- The fifth shows a caveman complaining to his therapist (played by Talia Shire) about Geico's attitude towards cavemen during a psychotherapy session.
- The sixth shows a caveman on a news-type talk show, debating with a human "expert" about whether or not cavemen "have failed to adapt." Both the expert and the host end up insulting the caveman.
- The seventh shows all three cavemen at a high-rise-apartment party, where two are having a discussion on the balcony about one's decision to purchase Geico's insurance because of its low price. The second caveman states that "a little loyalty would be nice" in their opposition to the company. During their discussion, the third caveman interrupts from inside, stating excitedly "Tina's here, we're getting back together!"
- The eighth is a continuation of the news talk-show where the "expert" uses overly technical terms to make an unclear statement, and the caveman is confused.
- The ninth and tenth are continuations of the caveman psychotherapy sessions.
- The eleventh is sort of a continuation of the seventh. (see above)

Websites In 2007, GEICO created and launched an interactive Flash website starring the GEICO commercial cavemen entitled Caveman's Crib. The site invites users to a hip penthouse party at the caveman's apartment.[2] If users click "Prep & Party," they are transported to the "crib" with the party not yet underway. Max (Jeff Phillips from the Airport spot), is none too pleased with the early arrival. Roommate Marty (John Lehr from the Therapy spot), is stressing over the arrival of Tina. Users may interact with the GEICO cavemen as well as their clothing, electronics, books, magazines and appliances. You could even click on the T.V. and veiw Geico ads before the screen is turned off by a cavemen. If users click "Snooze & Rejuve" they are transported to the morning after the party at the crib, and meet a third caveman, Neil (Eric Andre), who is napping on the couch. Users may interact with the cavemen and view camera phone video clips from the party itself, taken by several different guests points of view. There is even a Darts game, only with one change. A picture of the Geico gecko is on the board. Every time veiwers click the picture, a Dart is thrown at the face of the lizard mascot .[3] Some interesting facts arise from the caveman's crib website: For the British doo-wop revival band of the 1970s and 1980s, see Darts (band). ...
