Generals
- Note: It is recommended that you read the Chinese story before reading the GLA story, as the GLA story is the second of the three campaigns played in Generals.
Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow. The GLA story begins in the Shymkent DMZ. GLA forces in the region have been fighting against the local Chinese garrison, and have lost many troops. The battles have forced the Chinese to spread their forces across the map, leaving them vulnerable to attack, and the GLA look to capitalize on this vunerability by destroying the local hydroelectric dam. GLA forces encountered resistance in the Chinese, but ultimatly manged to destroy the dam, and the resulting flood destroyed several Chinese units and structures. GLA forces then shifted there attention to Almaty, Kazkhastan. GLA intelligence reported that the UN was shipping supplies to the citizens of Almaty, and the GLA were eager to capture the supplies to fund their own war operations. GLA forces ambushed several UN convoys and managed to steal tens of thousands of dollars in supplies for their war effort. During the Almaty operation the GLA had begun to spread propaganda in Astana City, the Chinese occupied capital of Kazakhstan. The propaganda spread began influencing the public, and before long several of the local citizens began ralling for the GLA cause. When the local police arrived to dispearce the crowd a riot ensued, with angry citizens lashing out at the police and burning several buildings. In the ensueing chaos the GLA were able to steal additional funds from the city while the rioters burned much of Astana City to the ground. Meanwhile, GLA forces in Adana, Turkey, found themselves unexpectedly backed into a corner when the United States establish an Air Force Base in the region. The air raids against the GLA in the sector prompted GLA command to order the base destroyed. GLA forces in the region encountered heavy resistance from American fighters and bombers, but eventually managed to breach the perimeter of the Incirlik Air Base and proceded to lay waste to the facility. Shortly after the GLA victory in Adana the GLA suffered a severe setback: US Forces arrayed on the western shore of the Areal Sea in Kazakhstan had secured several GLA biotoxin bunkers. The biotoxin bunkers, which hold deadly biological toxins, were used to store GLA toxin for use in the Toxin Tractors, Toxins Shells, and other GLA units. GLA forces were instructed to resecure the bunkers ans eliminate the US presence in the region. Although the GLA suffered a setback when attampting to recapture the first biotoxin bunker they eventually managed to secure the bunkers and destroy the US Base. After the conclusion of the Ariel Sea operation a GLA commander in Lenger, Kazahkstan, decided to defect, and joined the Chinese in there struggle in the GLA. In exchange for the defectoring GLA commanders help against his former allies the Chinese granted him accsess to their ground units and authorized the transfer of three nuclear warheads for use against the GLA. Enranged that a GLA commander would abandoned the GLA cause the remaining loyal GLA forces established a base in the defectors region and ambushed the Chinese convoy protecting the incoming nuclear warheads. The loyal GLA forces then overan the defectors base, using the stolen nukes against the renegade GLA base and turning it into a nuclear wasteland. With this threat to the GLA removed the remaining GLA forces set their sights on Baikonur and its Cosmodrome. GLA forces had devised a plan to launch a massive MIRV equipped rocket at the Chinese, but in order to launch such a rocket the GLA needed to secure the Cosmodrome, a Soviet era rocket launch facility. Although the rocket control building and the launchpad were secured by forces from both China and the United States the GLA managed to capture both. In their moment of triumph the GLA fired their biological rocket at a major metropolitan city in China, destroying the city and killing many of its inhabiatants.
Zero Hour - Note: It is recommended that you read the USA story first, as the GLA story is the second of the three stories in Zero Hour.
The destruction of the GLA capital, the loss of the GLA controlled Baikonur Cosmodrome, and the death of Doctor Thrax had pushed the GLA to the very edge of defeat, so when word that GLA General Mohmar "Deathstrike" and his escorts were under attack in a US controlled city the GLA resolved to evacuate him to prevent his capture, or worse, his death. Before the GLA could evecuate their supreme General he would have to shake his US pursuers. His car and escort technicals traded shots with US Humvees in a high speed pusuit that led all five vehicals down major city streets and across several open aired markets. Ultimately, Deathstrike was able to shake his US pursuers and rendezvous with GLA forces on the city outskirts. GLA forces subsequently escort deathstrikes car through US controlled streets to a waiting cargo plane, where Deathstrike was flown out. Secure in the knowledge that the supreme GLA commander was safe GLA forces turned their attention to Cairo, Egypt, home of the GLA commander Prince Kassad. Kassad had recently acquired new technologies that would greatly aid the GLA; however Kassad had chossen not to hand them over for his GLA brothers to use. GLA forces therefore resolved to take Kassads technology by force. Although Kassad fought very hard to protect his base and his technologies he was ultimately killed in his command center. Shortly there after GLA forces secured Kassads technology. The Global Liberation Army, now reunited under General Deathstrike and armed with Kassads technology, began once moere to wage war against the United States and China. The first stop for the newly reunited GLA was Crete, home to the US Navys Mediterranean Fleet. GLA forces captured a US particle cannon, and with the aid of Kassads technology and Jarmen Kell, located the US Mediterranean flagship, the supercarrier USS Reagan. The GLA then fired the captured particle cannon at the ship, causing the carrier to split in two and sink. ‹The template below has been proposed for deletion. ...
The loss of the US carrier had a profound effect on the US government, and the entire US Pacific fleet anchored on the west coast of the US was ordered to sail for the med in a powerful show of force. Unfortunately, this move left the west coast vulnerable to a GLA infilatration. GLA Forces under Jarmen Kells command were dispatched to the US west coast with orders to infiltrate a US west coast based toxin storage facility for the purpose of obtaining toxin sample for GLA scientists to replicate. The GLA infiltration was a near perfect succsess, with GLA forces breaching and securing the toxin storage facility with little to no opposition. during the toxin transfer US forces final realised that they had a security breach on their hands, and sent in several ground and air units to stop the GLA; however, the effort was to little to late as the GLA managed to escape with the toxin samples. Armed with the toxin samples the GLA set its sights on the US European Central Command Center. The GLA began by capturing a Chinese base and thereby establishing a foothold in the area. GLA forces then attacked a local US base, freeing a group of GLA soldiers held captive by the US and causing a local terror cell in the region to activate. From here the GLA, armed with both Chinese and American technologies, laid siege to the US European Central Command Center. Ultimately, the US Forces in the base were overwhelmed, and the base captured. The US, having suffered a raid on its own west coast, a crippling loss of a US Fleet aircraft carrier, and now the loss of their primary European central command base, announced the recall of all overseas US troops. The sudden vacuum of power created from the withdrawal of American soldiers paved the way for the GLA to invade and "liberate" Europe. This however does not last long as China then assumes the role of successfully forcing the GLA out of Europe, defeating them utterely...but this may not mean that the GLA has completely disbanded. As long as there is an ideology and a cause, there will still be terrorism such as the GLA. |
