Encyclopedia > GROGGS

GROGGS ("General-purpose Reverse-Ordered Gossip Gathering System") is a bulletin board system at Cambridge University. It began in 1985 on the mainframe Phoenix.


In 1995 it migrated to an Internet-based system using a custom protocol named RGTP. Clients for this protocol exist in Emacs, the World Wide Web, the Unix shell and as a Mozilla extension.
