Gabriel Cardinal Zubeir Wako (born February 27, 1939) is the Archbishop of Khartoum, Sudan. Born in Mboro, Sudan, he was ordained a priest on 21 July 1963. Appointed Bishop of Wau in 1974, and Archbishop of Khartoum in 1981. Cardinal Zubeir Wako was proclaimed a Cardinal by Pope John Paul II on October 21, 2003. He was one of the cardinal electors who participated in the 2005 papal conclave that selected Pope Benedict XVI.
