Gaelyn Whitley Keith was born on January 28 in Long Beach, California. Keith is the great-grandchild of Hobart Johnstone Whitley, The Father of Hollywood, and the well known entrepreneur in the Western United States in the late 1800's and in the early 1900's. Keith graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California in 1974.


Keith crafted the book The Father of Hollywood: The True Story from HJ Whitley's personal letters, pictures, office files, and excerpts from her great-grandmother, Gigi, Margaret Virginia Whitley's memoirs. Her book is a saga of the early days of Hollywood and HJ Whitley's life and career.


She has worked for South Bay Magazine and was awarded top honors in a nation writing competition.
