Galaxidi (Greek, Modern: Γαλαξίδι, Ancient/Katharevousa: -ον), is a town and a municipality located in the southern part of the prefecture of Phokida. It has a small harbor which connects with the Crisaean Gulf is north of Galaxidi. It is located near GR-48/E65 which connects Antirio with the Rio-Antirio bridge and Itea along with GR-27, Amfissa and Livadeia. It is located about 10 km S of Itea and about 30 km S of Amfissa, S of Lamia, about 25 km SW of Delphi, WSW of Livadeia and E of Nafpaktos, the Rio-Antirio bridge and GR-5. Galaxidi has a small port used by small fishing boats and yachts nowadays. During the age of sail (up to late 19th century) had a big local merchant marine fleet. During that time much wealth was accumulated and can be seen by the size and style of local architecture. In the last decades tourism has been increasing. People mostly occupied in merchant marine, tourism and sea farming. Traditional style has been greatly maintained and is one of the reasons it remains popular with tourists. Municipality of Galaxidi also consists of nearby villages "Ayioi Pantes" (Αγιοι Παντες), "Penteoria" (Πεντεορια) and "Vounihora" (Βουνιχωρα).
